Words inspired from a speech made by Haile Selassie I, the last emperor of Ethiopia, addressed to the United Nations in 1963

Until the philosophy

which hold one human superior and another inferior

is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned,

everywhere is war, I say war

That until there are no longer

upper, middle, lower class citizens of any nation

Until the color of a man’s skin

is of no more significance than the color of her eyes,

I say war

That until basic human rights

is equally guaranteed to all without regard to belief,

it’s a war

And until that day,

the dream of lasting peace,

world citizenship,

rule of international morality,

will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued

but never attained

Now everywhere is war

Until the ignoble and unhappy regime

that hold our brothers and sisters

in reality, commercial captivity, sub-human bondage

have been toppled, utterly destroyed,

Well everywhere is war, I say war

War in the east,

War in the west,

War up north,

War down south,

War, war, war, rumors of a war

And until that day,

none of earth’s habitants will know true peace

To live, to love we will fight,

we find it necessary

And we know we shall win,

as we are confident in the victory

of good over evil,

すべての人に基本的人権が保証されるようになるまで、

世界的市民権、

国際道徳規範など

いくら思い描いても叶わない夢のまま

幻のように消え去るであろう

人を人とみなさず

経済的に追い込んで束縛する卑劣で不幸せな社会体制を

覆し打ち崩すまで

争いは輪をかけて広がるだろう

東で争い、西で争い、北でも南でもまた争い

どこでも争い

争いごとの話題ばかり

その日が訪れるまで

地球の住人は真のやすらぎを知ることがないだろう

生きるため、愛のために私たちは闘う

闘う必要がある

善は悪に勝つ、必ず勝つと信じている

生きよう　生き延びよう　争いはやめよう
